Two arrested for threatening Salman Khan's father Salim Khan using Lawrence Bishnoi's name | Mumbai news - Hindustan Times

 Incident Overview

The Bandra police have arrested a man and a woman for allegedly threatening Salim Khan, father of Bollywood actor Salman Khan, while invoking the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. However, authorities believe the threat may have been a prank, with no real connections to the gangster or his criminal network.

 Details of the Threat

The incident occurred around 8:45 AM on Wednesday as Salim Khan was taking his morning walk on the Carter Road promenade. According to police reports, the accused approached him on a scooter and one of them made a threatening remark: “Lawrence Bishnoi ko bheju kya? (Should I send Lawrence Bishnoi?)” Following the threat, they quickly rode off towards Bandstand.

Salim Khan promptly reported the incident to the Bandra police, who registered a case against the duo. They face charges under several sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, including creating communal enmity and public nuisance.

 Quick Police Response

With only the last four digits of the scooter’s number plate, 7444, visible to Salim Khan, the police were able to identify and apprehend the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Umar Asif Babar Ali Shaikh from Sewri. Both accused have been presented in court and remanded in police custody for a day.

In a separate incident, police arrested a biker for reckless driving after he rode too closely to Salman Khan’s car while the actor was returning home from Mehboob Studio. The biker, identified as 21-year-old Uzair Mohiuddin, entered the police convoy surrounding Khan despite being instructed to maintain distance. Authorities stated there was no threat associated with this incident, as the biker was unaware that it was Salman Khan’s vehicle.

Context of Heightened Security

These events unfold in the wake of increased security measures for Salman Khan and his family, following a shooting incident on April 14, when members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang fired shots at the actor’s residence in Bandra West. Since then, six individuals have been arrested in connection with the shooting, including the two shooters.

The police’s chargesheet for the case names nine people, including Anmol Bishnoi, believed to be in Canada, who allegedly orchestrated the attack to intimidate Khan. Following these threats, Salman Khan has been granted 'Y-plus' security cover by the Mumbai police.
